A Swede in Washington

Oh, say can you see
that blond Swede fair and light.
How so proudly he waves
his own star spangled banner

Those blue eyes and strong arms
Carry on through the night
over valleys and peaks
as his countrymen watching

With the Vikings' old hymns
and the Nordic Gods' cheer
he knows that his flag
will be all standing clear

So, say can you hear that proud Swede
sing his Yankee doodle?
In his new land of the free,
and his home among friends.
